Privacy Policy

Effective 31 October 2026 · Version 1.0

This policy applies to Docbolt PDF and Docbolt Office on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and on Android (Docbolt PDF, package com.saedigital.pdf.reader; Docbolt Office, package id.alldocumentreader.office.viewer.filereader.pdf.ppt.doc.csv.xsl), together the "Apps".

The short version

  • Your documents stay on your device. We never upload, read, or store your files on any server.
  • There is no account and no login.
  • We do not track you, show ads, or sell or share personal data.
  • The Android Apps contain no analytics or advertising SDKs. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, anonymous usage and crash data is collected only if you turn it on in Settings. It is off by default.
  • On Android, scanning and text recognition use Google ML Kit on your device, which sends technical diagnostics (never your documents) to Google.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple or Google Play. We never see your payment details.

1. Who we are

The Apps are published by SAE Digital ("we", "us"), an independent developer based in Indonesia. Contact: contact@ihwan.id.

2. Your documents

All document processing (viewing, editing, annotating, signing, scanning, text recognition, compression, conversion, and on-device AI features where available) happens on your device. We have no access to your files.

iPhone, iPad and Mac

Files are stored where you choose: in the App's folder on your device, in iCloud Drive (under your own Apple Account, governed by Apple's privacy policy), or in other locations you open through the Files app.

Signatures you create are stored on your device in the iOS Keychain and are not synced or sent anywhere. Version history and recovery data are stored on your device and deleted automatically after the retention period shown in Settings, or when you delete them or uninstall the App.

Android

  • Files you create or export are saved to Documents/Docbolt PDF and Pictures/Docbolt PDF (Docbolt PDF) or Documents/Docbolt Office and Pictures/Docbolt Office (Docbolt Office), or to a location you choose.
  • To open a file shared from another app, the App may keep a temporary copy in its private cache. Working copies are deleted automatically, and unlocked copies of password-protected PDFs are deleted when you close the document.
  • Recent files, favorites, bookmarks, the last page you read, saved signatures and settings (such as theme, language, reading mode and app lock) are kept in the App's private storage on your device.

Password protection uses AES-256 PDF encryption. Passwords you type to open or protect a file are used only for that operation and are never stored.

3. Data we collect

By default: none. We do not run servers that receive data from the Apps.

Optional analytics on iPhone, iPad and Mac

If you turn on Settings > Privacy > Share anonymous usage and crash data, the App sends:

  • Product interaction events, such as "compress tool used" or "export succeeded", without file names, file contents, or text you typed;
  • Crash reports and performance data (device model, OS version, app version, memory and timing data);
  • A random identifier generated by the App that is not linked to your identity, your Apple Account, or other apps, and which resets if you reinstall the App.

We use this data only to fix bugs and improve the App. It is processed on our behalf by an analytics service provider that acts only on our instructions, and it is not used for advertising or tracking. You can turn it off at any time; data already sent is kept for at most 12 months and then deleted.

Apple may also share crash reports and App Store analytics with us if you agreed to share with app developers in your device settings. That sharing is controlled by Apple and by your device settings.

Android

The Android Apps contain no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs of our own. Google Play may give us aggregated statistics and crash reports that Google collects under its own policies and your device's usage and diagnostics setting.

Google ML Kit (Android)

The document scanner and text recognition (OCR) use Google ML Kit through Google Play services. Your images and the recognised text are processed on the device and are never sent to us or to Google. To keep these features working, ML Kit sends technical data to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics: device information (manufacturer, model, OS version), app information (package name, version), device or installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, event types and error codes. Google encrypts this data in transit and does not transfer it to third parties. Google Play services may also download the scanner and OCR models over the internet. See the ML Kit data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy.

Docbolt PDF on Android may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review. Any review you leave is handled by Google Play.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions, the Lifetime purchase, and the Day Pass are processed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play billing. We receive only the transaction information the store provides to the App (such as which product is active, a purchase token, and when it expires) to unlock features on your devices. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details. Apple's or Google's privacy policy applies to payments.

5. Permissions

iPhone, iPad and Mac

  • Camera: used only to scan documents. Images stay on your device.
  • Photos: used only when you choose images to convert, or save exported images.
  • Notifications: used only to remind you before a free trial ends.

You can change these at any time in your device's Settings.

Android

  • All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, or storage permission on older Android versions), optional: used only to find and list the documents on your device, and to browse, copy, move, rename, delete or save files and folders when you ask. Without it you can still open files through the system file picker or "Open with". You can turn it off at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Special app access > All files access.
  • Camera: the Apps do not hold the camera permission. Scanning uses Google's scanner screen or your system camera app, and only images you confirm are processed.
  • Notifications (Android 13 and later): only for optional features such as new-document alerts in Docbolt PDF. Off by default.
  • Fingerprint, face or screen lock: only for the optional app lock. Android performs the verification; the App never receives biometric data.
  • Internet: used by Google Play services for the ML Kit models and diagnostics, purchases and in-app review. Reading and editing documents works offline.
  • Read aloud: page text is passed to the text-to-speech engine installed on your device and is handled according to that engine provider's policy.

6. What we don't do

We do not use advertising SDKs, do not track you across apps or websites, do not sell or rent data, and do not send your documents to any third-party AI service. Files leave your device only when you choose Share, Print, Save a copy, or Open with, and only to the app, service or printer you pick; that app or service's privacy policy then applies. If a future feature ever needs to process data off your device, we will update this policy and ask for your permission first.

7. Your rights and deleting data

Because we do not hold personal data that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Optional analytics data is not linked to you, so we cannot match it to a person; you can stop it at any time with the Settings toggle.

To delete what the Apps keep on your device, clear history or cache in the App's settings, or uninstall the App (on Android you can also clear the App's storage in Android Settings > Apps). Your original documents and the files you saved stay yours and can be deleted at any time with any file manager. ML Kit diagnostic data is managed by Google under its own policies.

If you are in the EU/UK or Indonesia, you have rights under the GDPR or the Indonesian Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP), including the right to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us at contact@ihwan.id and we will reply within 14 days.

8. Children

The Apps are general productivity tools suitable for all ages and do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the Apps' release notes.
